About Moke Travels Across Australia
Giday!
This site has been put together mainly for Family and Friends who'd like to see some of the most spectacular places in Australia and having travelled to them by way of the humble Moke.
Articles and Photos here have been put together by a small group of Moke enthusiasts.
Just a few words about the Moke. Orginally designed as an Off-road Miltary Vehicle for Armies around the world, but duely regected by most. In those early days, they were known as a Mini Moke and these had 10" wheels, in common with the Mini. Later during Australian Production, 13" wheels were fitted , from that time on, they became known as a 'Moke'.
They are only front wheel drive and share much of their mechanical parts with the Mini upon which they were derrived. Engine sizes are generally 1000, 1100 or 1275 cc, however, the early Mini Mokes were fitted with 850 cc engines.
